Tour Details

Chiang Rai is a city in northern Thailand, in the mountainous province of the same name. They city is near the borders of Laos and Myanmar (formerly Burma). Wat Phra Kaew is a royal temple that once housed the jade Emerald Buddha and now displays a replica. Nearby, the Navel City Pillar is a monument made of more than 100 Khmer-style pillars. Mae Fah Luang Art and Cultural Park is a museum showcasing Lanna artifacts

Itinerary

Day 1

| Chiang Rai

Welcome to Chiang Rai. On arrival you meet our local driver cum representative who will assist you & transfer to your Hotel. Chiang Rai province is located in the northernmost of Thailand. It is a mountainous region with Rivers and jungles, so there is a lot of beautiful nature surrounding the area. The north of Chiang Rai borders Myanmar, the south borders Phayao Province, the east borders Laos, and the west borders Chiang Mai Province. Chiang Rai population consists of people of various ethnic backgrounds, including those from hill tribes and Chinese lineage. This factors into Chiang Tai’s unique traditions and makes the city an excellent and different location for tourists to experience.

 

Day 2

Enjoy a pleasant tour including the Trishaw ride, the favorite local mode of transportation, through Chiang Rai’s residential area and market place and visit Wat Phra Keow which once, during the 13th century, housed the Emerald Buddha now in Bangkok.

 

Day 3

A thrilling boat ride along the Mae Kok River ends with a visit to a traditional Karen hill tribe village. The Karen originated in Burma and the various combined groups form the largest hill tribe population in Thailand, numbering about a quarter of a million which amounts to almost half of the total Thai hill tribe population. This is followed by an adventurous elephant trek through the surrounding countryside before boarding the boat for a short trip to the local hot springs. Nearby is the second hill tribe of the tour, the Lahu. The Lahu originated in Tibet and consist of five main groups – Red Lahu, Black Lahu, White Lahu, Yellow Lahu, and Lahu Shelehn. After exploring the village, there is the final boat ride of the day back to Chiang Rai

Day 4

| Chiang Rai

Enjoy your last morning in Chiang Rai before checking out and being transferred to the airport, where you will depart for your destination with bags full of souvenirs and happy memories.
